Saw this y'day while looking at #HMSHood images. Polish destroyer #ORPPiorun - later famous for charging German battleship #Bismarck - on patrol, 1940. A good 'first person' sense of the captain's view from the bridge.

On this day in 1941 #HMSHood sank hunting the #Bismarck , 3 of her crew survived, sadly 1415 hands were lost.

In 1940, the 5.5 inch guns were removed from HMS Hood in a refit, guns from the Hood went to the #Pevensey gun battery as well as a number of other locations.
