KCC are working on plans to reopen Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) as soon as the Government advice is clear and staffing levels will allow it to be done safely and with appropriate PPE. KCC will coordinate the reopening of the Centres with neighbouring authorities.

Earlier this week the Government issued guidance to help councils consider the safe partial re-opening of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).

♻️From Monday 1 June all HWRCs in #Notts will be open as the remaining sites at Giltbrook, Kirkby, Mansfield and West Bridgford reopen to the public.

Today Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called after a bag of batteries was put into general waste. Batteries contain lithium + other metals & acids which caused a series of explosions within our collection vehicle.
Our HWRCs, libraries & most supermarkets have free battery recycling points.

Did you know that you can recycle old CDs & DVDs at all three of our HWRCs?
Since March this year, we have recycled a whopping 1.2 tonnes, which is approximately 75 000 discs! They have all gone to make new CD and DVD products 📀
