Eric Alper 🎧 A true genius. All instruments played by Prince on the recording, has no bass line & the outro “classical” synth riff was recorded at 1/2 speed & an octave lower, then sped up for the final version. His keys player, Dr. Fink, had to learn it at normal speed for live shows.

A true hero contributes to others and empowers them to better themselves. They put themselves last but ironically end up at the top because their community empowers them!

The Heart of Rock & Roll Eric Alper 🎧 There is a bass line for the song, it was removed, there’s a version with complete overproduction and he reeled it back and muted several tracks including the bass.

Jim Monte American Psycho monologue aside, it’s an interesting 1st album with its own sound. Very Elvis Costello-ish sound, which considering HLNs history kinda makes sense. But overall I think it’s enjoyable for what it was but very different from all of their follow up work.

RockNRollNationLive RnRNationLiveRadio Of that list, it has to be We Built This City for a couple of reasons:

1) It’s just a bad song
2) It’s made by members of what was once Jefferson Airplane.

Just a terrible black mark for a legendary band
