I’m Trans & 62y/o started my transition in 1977 at 15.
I am rare because hardly anybody could survive the exhausting parameters of being stealth back then.

You know who's voices are notably absent from discussions around the Cass report and treatment of trans kids in general?

Those of us who started transitioning as children and are now happily trans adults.

My story is similar with a few differences. I grew up with a rather toxic relationship with my feminity. I always loved girly shit. Whenever I was visiting my cousins I always had way more fun hanging out with her and even playing with her dolls.

The Cass report dismisses the decades of happy adult life we've spent as living proof of successful outcomes for the administration of Puberty Blockers in young transitioners. We were anything but 'let down' by this service.

I knew really early on I envied the girls around me and that i wasn't like the boys around me. I knew for a long time and I clinged to feminine things. I knew this was different. I know how boys my age treated people like that. Whether I used the label or not

As most folks know, I came out at 13. Used a male name privately, officially adopted a male name publicly and sought a GIC referral at 16, enrolled as male at college at 17, then changed my name legally at 18.

There are so many of us.

'I was a patient at GIDS in 98-2000 until being moved to adult services and and have loved my life after transition, I knew for most of my childhood but couldn't express it until I was 16 with how suppressed trans existence was then.'

Goth Disco Gnome Blocked Elon again and, in a fit of wrath at the cruelty of these anti-trans agitators who use ‘the children’ like pawns, wrote a thread about it.

At around 10 or 11 things began to get very uncomfortable and only increased as I aged I didn't have a word for it or understanding of it til later part of me thought I was gay which was hard enough but then I came out and things still didn't feel right.

Goth Disco Gnome Blocked Elon again I first discovered I was trans when I was TWELVE and have never looked back since. It's been a slow process, but now I'm close to getting top surgery and finally having the body I've always dreamed of :)

Well into my teens this persisted, I never outgrew it. I was miserable they went ignored for all these years. Growing out my hair was literally all I could even try to do. My girlfriend at the time was very lovely letting me try on clothes. Thank you again.

I was a trans child and because of societal stigma I wasn’t allowed to be myself and it led to decades of depression, unhappiness and a suicide attempt and no one should have to go through that because of other people’s ignorance, prejudice and bigotry.

I first properly questioned my gender at 14. Previously I felt 'wrong' and I didn't understand why. I came out at 16 and socially transitioned with very little support. At 19 I detransed because of the pressure and at 22 I came out as a trans man again. 24 now.
