Machu Picchu today. I am lost for words

The Uru are an indigenous people who live on self-made, floating islands in Lake Titicaca near Puno. These days they are largely dependent on tourism to make a living. I have to say It seems like a very harsh existence.

We had a lovely walk on the Isleof Kerrera on Tuesday with our friends from homestartlorn We took the new road down to Kerrera marina and had a lovely picnic in the sun. The Easter Bunny even met us with Easter eggs! Thanks to CalMac Ferries supporting our wee walks this year!

The mountain range which overlooks the Sacred Valley (urabamba valley) is absolutely breathtaking. We were still well over 3,500 meters today but both of us look to be acclimatising to the altitude ok 🤞

We are leaving Puno this morning & flying to Lima, the capital of Peru.
We've essentially been at altitude (above 3,000 meters) since last Monday so it will be good to get back to sea-level on the Pacific Coast

The Cusco to Puno train takes you across the Andean High Plateau and onto the shores of Lake Titicaca. It's a lengthy journey (ten & a half hours) but I could have stayed in this carriage all day
