Godzilla arrived in my yard. Yeah, this ant was big, so must be a queen. Camponotus herculeanus is my guess. I have not seen this one before on my plot, where I do have lots of Myrmica rubra 😬and Lasius niger.

is better than Xmas day. I’m so pleased I have supported two species of ant in my garden - the yellow meadow ant (Lasius Flavus) and the black garden ant, (Lasius niger) and today the winger alates emerged!

The queen black garden ant, can live for up to 15 years!

(Lasius meridionalis).

(Lasius morisitai)

Found my first aggregate of these ethereal and adorable Platyarthrus hoffmannseggii (4 double letters in a single word that's worth noting lol).
A myrmecophile and anophthalmous species of woodlice, here with a Lasius sp. worker.

Quite a lot of ant nest activity at . All very slow, but it’s not exactly warm out. I’m guessing that they’re Lasius niger.
