We screened the sensitivity profiles of CML cells using a library of 82 oncology drugs. We sorted CD34+ cells, to enrich for stem and progenitor cell populations from CML samples. Beside TKIs, CML CD34+ showed sensitivities to drugs such as VEGFR, WEE1 and MDM2 inhibitors.

Clinically, this doesn’t necessarily prove that SARS2 is oncogenic. But seeing that MDM2 is upregulated via p53 and p21 inhibition, what this means is that SARS2 may hasten cancer progression in those who already have the disease.
