図書館で見つけたメスメリズムと文学の研究書、マリア・M・タタール『魔の眼に魅されて』。この本によると、ポーがメスメリズムに関してネタ本としていたのはChauncy Hare TownshendのFacts in Mesmerism（1840）だったそう。他にもホーソーンやE•T•A•ホフマン作品の考察も述べられていて面白い。
