Attempting improvements for this bone zoomorphic plaque from today. Stuck staring blankly at Object Title Description field. All I can think to call it is “Loch Ness Monster Shaped Thingy”. Any suggestions?

Another interesting object from our project: a wonderful example of a polished Neolithic greenstone (or epidiorite) axe. Found in Murston, the stone itself comes from the Mount’s Bay area in Cornwall, showing stone age trade links.

The project has highlighted a curious object: a four-armed seal die matrix – bearing four different animal impressions on each arm: a goat, boar, lion and deer. (16th Century, Headcorn). Can you see which one is at the top here?

A final object from our project: a 13th – 14th Century roof finial, of London-Type ware, coated in green glaze and shaped into the form of a human head who is resting their hands on their chin. Its find location is unknown.

I've spent the last year researching the colonial histories of the Australian mammals at Museum of Zoology, Cambridge (thanks Art Fund!). Now, we're photographing them all to help make their online records even more valuable to researchers worldwide.
