Today, different stakeholders convened for a multistakeholder workshop ahead of the launch of Ethiopia’s #NAPBHR on May 16, 2024. The 3rd Annual Symposium will aim at providing stakeholders with space to reflect on the opportunities presented by the adoption of the NAPBHR by Government of Uganda and utilize this regulatory framework to ensure more responsible business conduct in Uganda.

Why a National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAPBHR)?
A thread.

The NAPBHR is aimed at contextual application of the UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights - 'Respect, Protect & Remedy'. The principles aim to deter human rights violations during business.

Here are the expected outcomes;
i. Increased awareness on the NAPBHR by both State and Non-state actors

ii. Identification of emerging issues for joint advocacy to enable effective and sustained implementation of the NAPBHR in Uganda.
