MMMM Jordan Harrod really pointed out the thing about the NSF GRFP prioritizing AI/Tech by saying that tho they could fund URM students they historically dont do that but rather R1s who already focus on AI/Tech. So NSF will cont. funding R1s & not URMs/PoC

What do you think drives people's desires to look for neurobiological mechanism for racism?

Oliver Rollins says this is rooted in a desire to have answers and understand. But there's a profound misunderstanding of how systemic inequality is produced.

Happens to everyone, but these could also be signs of chronic procrastination.

The good news is that there are science-based techniques to get rid of this life-ruining habit. Start with a simple test.👇

10-20% Medical students believe Black patients have thicker skin and less sensitive nerve endings. Med schools have to teach and re-teach the racialized programming that students have been exposed to.

Most people who are diagnosed with CIDP aren’t 17-year-old girls, but Maddy was. She shares her journey with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), a rare and chronic neurological disorder that primarily affects the arms and legs.

Great insights from panel. Learning from Jordan Harrod on racism & AI - how can algorithms take race into account in meaningful ways without perpetuating racism? what is the definition of fair in the context of artificial intelligence? how do algorithms shift power?

I think ppl would rather put blame on something out of everyone's ctrl for either the harm or privilege of racism rather than actually deal w/ the consequences of it being a made up system within the ctrl of some

Love this discussion about how code switching has differential effects in children's brain. I wonder how achievement gaps could be closed for Black children if educators embraced AAVE. If we didn't measure intelligence by white standards.
