The scale of homelessness and the numbers waiting for social housing in NI are truly staggering. 55,000 people is twice the size of Newtownards.

Poor old Christine. But just imagine how much harder it would have been for her if she hadn't lived in Newtownards, a big town almost entirely unaffected by the Troubles. I lived there most of the 70s. You wouldn't have known the Troubles were even happening.

Funnily enough, I found out during the week that Small Faces headlined an all night music festival at Castlereagh Park, Newtownards in the summer of 1968.

The loss of life was high for a single raid, with over 740 people killed. Belfast was not the only target, with five civilian deaths in Bangor, 13 civilians deaths in Derry/Londonderry and 13 soldiers of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers killed at Newtownards airfield.
