NUTHATCHES AND TOUCANS 🔛🔝

Nuthatches ( I think!) have taken over a pony hoof boot that I left hanging in the shed to dry. 3 eggs so far,terrible photo I know, but glad to be of service to these critters 🙂

Spent a couple of hours trying out a new portable hide. Once I got the chair into a comfortable position I had to wait until the wildlife got used to it. Mostly Nuthatches and the odd fight with a Bluetit. More to follow.

The Red-breasted Nuthatch has some unique habits when it comes to making their nests. These nuthatches collect resin globules from trees and plaster them around the entrance of its nest hole, they may carry the resin in its bill or even use a piece of bark as an applicator!
