I recently read that it takes an average of 14 to 17 years for someone with to receive effective treatment.

about 30-31 years for me. I remember having symptoms as early as 6 or 7. I was diagnosed - & started therapy - last year at age 37.

It's !

OCD in pregnancy and postnatal is common but often confused with its postnatal depression and anxiety

It's also important to know that treatment IS available , and if you choose to take medications this CAN be done whilst breastfeeding !

OCD compulsions do not just include hand washing. They include seeking reassurance, tapping, repeating phrases in head, counting, neutralising bad thoughts, checking etc. People with OCD act on compulsions to try to reduce anxiety from the obsessions.

This is your semi-annual reminder that OCD can be severe, present with psychosis, & can & does kill. It's not the cute adjective you think it is.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a first-line treatment for OCD, however many are unable to receive this treatment. App-based interventions are a promising way to address this gap.

I was very confused when I was diagnosed years ago as I thought OCD was all about cleaning & I am a massive hoarder so couldn't see how I fit in to that diagnosis. Turns out it's so much more than that & the hoarding is actually related to it

Because it’s , I’d like to talk about my horrendous OCD, but also how I’ve come to manage it a bit better.

I was diagnosed with OCD and anxiety when I was young. I’ve had some bad bouts with it since my diagnosis, usually during transitional periods.

It’s !!!! As someone who has had bad OCD for a while, this is so important to me !! OCD isn’t about being neat or liking to organize. Its a mental illness that can affect your life and is not an adjective to describe ur quirky lil friend. :)

I knew very little about OCD until my diagnosis in 2020.

And the more I’ve learned about it, the more I’ve realized how misunderstood OCD really is.

This , I hope others are able to learn more about this condition, too.
