Which, as it turns out, less than 9% of people who apply for PSLF actually get it.

It finally happened!!! While I have been eligible since March my #PSLF application has finally been approved & after 10+ years my federal loan balance is a big ZERO! Grateful for this program and hopeful others have a similar outcome with the reconsideration/waiver period.

Secretary Miguel Cardona #PSLF absolutely does NOT help people plan for a future (esp. w/ MOHELA servicing it) or put a down payment on a house. It does however lock public servants into precarity for a decade (or more!). It punishes adjuncts, disabled people, and anyone who is or might become pregnant.

I qualify for PSLF and I’m incredibly lucky because of that. The whole forgiveness counting as taxable income is outrageous

The Jock FlipDAppleCart the tall pretty one You’re asking these questions because you don’t know what you’re talking about. Under PSLF YOU HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS - It’s not just based off public service like the GI Bill. The government forgives the interest & principal under these programs.

Saturday, June 24, 2023. 256 days since PL117-200, the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act was signed into law. Late 2024 before a mechanism to separate MAY be in place! Navient finally received info for forbearance! Other servicers? Not so much.

I submitted that meaningless 'Reconsideration Request' FedLoans told me I needed to submit, in order to separate husband's and my JCL--so that my portion would qualify for PSLF. That was 9 months ago. Induce! Induce! Induce!

I'm putting together a student loan plan for a lady who has 140+ credits (need 120 to get PSLF).

Even almost 2 years into the PSLF limited waiver/IDR waiver, I still get 3-4 people PER WEEK who qualify for immediate forgiveness.

Lots of work to do before the end of the year!

Fingergun112 Sweet Tea Adam S. Minsky I was thinking more along the lines of state tax on people whose balances are high and get PSLF. You could see taxes getting into the 10-20k range for some borrowers.
