Today, on #RedDressDay , our officers are walking alongside our Indigenous communities to bring awareness and honour to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. #MMIWG

1/2 Today is #RedDressDay , a day to honour #MMIWG 2S +. Inspired by Jamie Black, a Métis artist from Manitoba who hung hundreds of red dresses to represent #MMIWG , this day raises awareness about the disproportionate violence that Indigenous women, girls, & 2SLGBTQ+ people face.

👗 Today is #RedDressDay , a national day to honour the spirits of the MMIWG2S+ people & their loved ones.

Our Indigenous Relations Team held a Red Dress Day event earlier this week, with a screening of an MMIWG2S+ film & a panel discussion with Indigenous community members.

Data shows Indigenous women in Canada face a homicide rate nearly 6x higher than non-Indigenous women.
On #RedDressDay , we stand in solidarity with Indigenous partners/communities as they grieve & honour the memory of the women, girls, & 2-spirit persons lost to violence.
