Good to be at the #HourglassConference2024 looking at principles and practice around #saferageing . Excellent manifesto and safer ageing index will be essential. 7k made a call to the hourglass helpline in 2016, 50k in 2023 highlights the work needed to tackle #elderabuse

On #InternationalWomensDay we celebrate all women. As a trustee for Hourglass (Safer Ageing) it’s important to me that we shine a light on the risks facing older women, which are often overlooked or not understand, especially around domestic and sexual abuse.

Older victim-survivors of abuse face unique challenges such as dementia, digital exclusion and increased vulnerability due to disability.

Often, perpetrators are close family members, with victim-survivors relying on them for care needs or social contact.
