Today's new house guest and my is a nippy little Clubiona corticalis which could have given a Philodromus (running crab spider) a run for its money. Usually found under loose bark & leaf litter, it almost certainly came in with firewood BAS

I've seen plenty of Ero egg sacs before but yesterday was the first time I found the actual spider. I wonder if I can find anything else new before the end of the year? BAS

Long-jawed Orbweb (Tetragnatha). Who taught me to stop staring into small holes so much (zero spiders) and just sit down in the undergrowth and look around (umpteen spiders there all along). BAS Tim Jonas

This is likely to be Common Candy-striped spider Enoplognatha ovata, as the similar E latimana is almost entirely absent from Scotland. A formidable predator despite only being max 6mm body length and can kill prey many times its size BAS Tim Jonas
