Malicious actors can create convincing fake profiles and use romance to lure people into sending them money.

No matter how persuasive their story is, never send money to someone from a dating app that you haven’t met in person.

Nobody should ever contact you randomly for your sensitive information via email. If you are asked for it, it’s a scam and you should ignore and delete the email immediately.

I agree with Which? – if Rt Hon Nadine Dorries wants to then tech giants must be made responsible for preventing scam ads from appearing on their sites. To protect us all, online scam ads must be part of the Online Safety Bill. conversation.which.co.uk/scams/dear-nad…

It was a pleasure to attend Which? drop-in event in Parliament this week.

With 1 in 10 people having been scammed by ads on social media, it’s essential that paid-for advertising is included in the Online Safety Bill to better protect people from scam ads.

This week I spoke to Which? about tackling online scams. Scam ads are ruining lives, with Tech Giants continuing to profit from victims' misery.

I urge the Government to help by including paid-for ads in the Online Safety Bill.

Great to meet with Which? on Wednesday to discuss online safety.
1 of 10 people in the UK have been scammed by fake ads online.
The Government must take action to protect victims from losing billions a year & include scam ads in the Online Safety Bill.
