The main perpetrator, Hermanni Mäki, was sentenced to life-long forced labor in Siberia for the murder, and Rannanjärvi was sentenced to five years of forced labor in Suomenlinna for complicity in the murder and violent beatings.

The last optional activity for the EALTA2023 Helsinki conference was a trip to the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a Unesco World Heritage Site. It was a lovely afternoon walking on the island, enjoying the sites and sceneries, and  soaking up the gorgeous summer day. ☀️
