On this #ThreatenedSpeciesDay our School had a bake-off to put in the spotlight the many organisms that are considered threatened in the wild in Australia.
The crowned winner was the native threatened mouse pookila, also known as the new holland mouse. ππ€©

It's #TSBakeOff2023 and the theme this year is 'loving the unlovely and getting to know the unknown' so I made a cake of the Critically Endangered mealybug Pseudococcus markharveyi, known only from one host plant species from the Stirling Ranges, WA.

#blackfootedtreerat which is considered endangered in Northern Australia. Darwin has a reasonably stable population but this is threatened by new development so #saveleepoint as they live in tree hollows. Look for the long white tail tip and big black feet!
