Hexham Abbey’s ‘frith’ (peace in Anglo-Saxon) chair, known as St Wilfred’s throne, may date back to the C7th. It’s carved from a single block of sandstone and is likely still not very comfortable, despite its lovely bright red cushion. Northumberland. #TextileTuesday
