#VJDay : On 15 August 1945, Emperor Hirohito announced the surrender of Imperial Japan.

In the months leading up to the surrender, a Royal Signals officer had secretly travelled behind Japanese lines to set up two wireless stations, named Sparrow & Crow.

With roughly 70,000 Irishmen serving in WW2 the majority served in Europe, Italy, North Africa and elsewhere. The often forgotten campaign was the Fat East.
