Country music pioneer Linda Martell is featured on Beyoncé’s new album. Martell was the first commercially successful black female country artist and the first to play the Grand Ole Opry. Martell only made one album before leaving the music industry. #VinylTapCurrent

L.A. rock/power pop band Crabby Appleton named themselves after a character from the 1950’s cartoon, Tom Terrific. They released two albums on Elektra Records before they broke up. Their best known song “Go Back” was a Top 40 hit in 1970. #VinylTapCurrent

The Main Ingredient’s 4th album ‘Bitter Sweet’ was their first to feature lead singer Cuba Gooding, Sr (dad of actor Cuba Gooding, Jr). “Everybody Plays the Fool” was a major hit in 1972. The song was a hit again in 1991 when it was covered by Aaron Neville. #VinylTapCurrent
