60,000 homes in Walthamstow were exposed to illegal levels of pollution in 2007. Thanks to , that has reduced to 6000. CPZs with emissions-based charging, timed road closures that support local shops, handing space to pedestrians & cyclists. It works!

Hard to imagine this many people visiting the shops, restaurants, furniture stores, butchers and cafes today on Orford Road if it wasn’t closed to through traffic

Yes, it’s really grim up north 🤦‍♂️. If people actually came to Waltham Forest they would see it’s more than a couple of LTNs, but a network of people friendly streets with community green spaces, safe cycle routes on main roads and secure cycle parking

When this scheme in Orford Road 1st opened, folks marched a coffin here predicting death of trade on this street. Several businesses here said losing parking out front would end them. That was 8 years ago. This was a mild March Sunday. Change is hard but worth it.

Three cargo bikes (none of which are mine) and at least a hundred more kids' cycles parked outside my children's primary school yesterday morning.

This isn't Amsterdam. This is an ordinary outer London suburb that has invested in active transport. .
