The most important change to the fast-track bill is to chuck it in the bin!
We don’t want new mines in conservation land, seabed mining up the coasts, more intensive dairy operations or a proliferation of waste-to-energy incinerators!

The fast-track bill gives three ministers unfettered discretion to approve industrial development projects without checks and balances on conflicts of interest or bias.

The Bill invites corruption from deep-pocketed applicants.

Great analysis by Tom Pullar-Strecker highlighting how bad the Fast-track Bill really is.

It's anti-democratic, anti-transparency, open to corruption and lacks any semblance of environmental protection while removing existing protections.

We're on the brink of climate and biodiversity collapse. JAG lost her temper in the context of the Nats lying while debating yet another attack in this govt's . Polls are showing that many people are over it. Spare me the pearl-clutching.

Stuff asking ministers for transparency around their consent decisions.

Transparency is not the problem.

The deliberate removal of any impediment to the executive power of 3 ministers is the problem.

Oral Submission: We oppose the Fast Track Bill in its entirety. It’s anti-democratic, anti-transparency and creates vulnerability to corruption. It lacks any semblance of environmental protection and removes existing protections.

Biodiversity is declining at unprecedented rates worldwide, and debate continues on how to combat it.

One idea that’s gained traction globally is to grant legal rights to nature.

Particularly relevant here as Luxon’s Govt launches a !
