When artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant moved here in 1916, they experimented with new ways of creating, living and dressing!
Away from London, Vanessa could wear what she wanted, like loose skirts and bright headscarves. Duncan's 1917 portrait of her is our #WorkOfTheWeek .
A sense of longing runs through #CristinaBanBan 's work. She tacks a personal narrative to her practice. In 'Irene and Sara Peeling Potatoes in Greenpoint' we are steeped with nostalgia and longing, offer condensed visions of home that call out to the artist.
