Grasshopper sparrow making the most of the grass between the paving stones in Canal Park, Manhattan.

This little guy hopped within 5 feet of me, and it was the best thing ever.

Tried to capture this northern mockingbird’s amazing mating “dance” (hat tip Manhattan Bird Alert) - watched him perform this nonstop for at least 20 minutes!

Another look at the handsome hooded warbler in the Ramble a few days ago. This species is one of my favorites. Not only are they gorgeous, but they hop around low, generously providing great looks! (Central Park, NY)

A drawing derived from my photograph. This was one of my favorite birds in Central Park. The Double-crested Cormorant looks downright prehistoric, but I gave him a little bit of a Disney-like anthropomorphic look in the face area.

The Red-tailed Hawk at Carl Schurz Park has a new hunting technique. View area on top of Peter Pan, drop down, catch prey and fly off.
