So the plan changed but we came up with a solution. Biggest rye I’ve dealt with. Drill wasn’t really getting it in to our liking, planter had wrapping issues. So roller ahead and away we went. See how they come up now…🙏 Stock Cropper Sponheim Sales & Services

Corn planted May 9th . Winter wheat last year planted to 8 way mix and grazed last fall. This is the best conditions I've planted into. Wet spring so far and zero water runoff.

Planting green and terminating the cereal rye 10-14 days later to let it accumulate more biomass for weed suppression.

This has worked well in our plots the past couple years, providing additional weed suppression without impacting soybean yield. Thoughts?

Planting corn into some big cereal rye . Dealing with what Mother Nature gives us this year. The living cover is helping manage moisture. We finally got it planted, then got the cover terminated soon after! Now to monitor closely for potential insect pressure 🧐

Covercrop/örtü bitkisi ekili alanda su geçirgenliği çok çok yüksektir. Bitki kökleri ve toprak dokusu yardımıyla yağmur suları kolayca aşağı iner. Sürülü toprakta su göllenir ve hastalık başlar.

İzleyin şaşıracaksınız!

Before the rains, we laid covercrop seed throughout our vineyard. This mix is a blend we have used in our dry-farmed, tilled blocks for years with an addition of Daikon radish:

1. Swan Oats
2. Bell beans
3. Lana vetch
4. Purple vetch
5. Magnus peas
6. Daikon radish

Recorded earlier this week between storms in southern WI.

Small grain cereals (grain, forage or ) can reduce storm water runoff in wet springs. Runoff mitigation strategies will have positive impact on herbicide use patterns moving forward.
