We successfully completed cooldown of our prototype HB650 cryomodule on the first try! 🎉

The cryomodule went from room temperature to its superfluid Helium operating temperature, –456º F, in less than 6 days, with no technical issues. This is a great accomplishment for !

Final assembly stages of the first HB650 cryomodule. This week the assembly team inserted the cold mass in the vacuum vessel. After few final touches the cryomodule will head to PIP2IT for cold testing later this year. Stay tuned!!!

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED!
Today another major milestone in the assembly of the very first HB650 cryomodule was achieved. The string of superconducting RF cavities was lowered on the cold mass. Kudos to the incredible team working flawlessly for months to reach this goal!

And we have lift off!

Thanks to the meticulous but expedite work of our cryomodule assembly team, the pHB650 string, after MLI and magnetic shield assembly, is lifted off from the cleanroom lollipops and is now ready for tuner installation. Steady progress!

BIG UPDATE!

We are excited to share that, earlier this month, we finished assembling the first prototype high-beta 650-MHz cryomodule at Fermilab! 🎉 Next, the prototype will be installed and tested at Fermilab’s testing facility.

Last month, we finished assembling the first HB650 cryomodule. On Jan. 12, we brought it to the Cryomodule Test Facility at Fermilab (1st pic) where installation is now in progress at the PIP2IT test stand (2nd pic).

Today the dummy HB650 cryomodule arrived in the UK at after its journey from Chicago! We will now analyze the transport data and learn good lessons to apply to the prototype HB650 cryomodule that will follow the same route early next year. Great job transport team!

After six months of testing, we moved our prototype HB650 cryomodule out of the CMTF building at the end of August.

The team is now preparing for its transportation test from Fermilab to UK Research and Innovation's Daresbury Laboratory at the end of October!
