I honestly didn’t realize how transactional Christians made relationships until I left evangelicalism.

I’m the breadwinner, btw. Does that mean my husband’s body is just… at my disposal? His consent doesn’t matter because I make the money? The implications of this are gross.

I found these results reassuring. The people drawn to Lutheranism want distinctive Lutheranism. The largest divide seems to be 60-80 years old and everyone younger. Older crowd wants evangelicalism. Everyone else wants Lutheranism, statistically.

Parallel dynamic to Christianity where people thought in 1900 some kind of ecumenical theological liberalism would be the wave of the future and then evangelicalism/Pentecostalism ended up massively outnumbered them both due to births and converts.

Evangelicals have sometimes been so preoccupied to defend the Gospel that they have forgotten to truly proclaim the Gospel with boldness, and to truly apply the Gospel to all of life.

This diluted approach led to three related problems within modern evangelicalism:

1. cowardice

A huge prob in evangelicalism is the emergence of an expert class who make $ writing books and op-eds about how bad “those Christians” are while trying to maintain legitimacy w/in those same circles.
