Gerak Darma's team stopped at Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport. We are not catching a flight. Just need to pick up Mr. Hasan Alkamel's luggage. He arrived in Mauritania from Libya a few weeks ago, but his luggage did not. He finally got a call to pick up his luggage.

Gerak Darma's team enjoys the view from up the breathtaking mountain. It is a rocky mountain with no vegetation around. The paved road is superb and has a few hairpin turns. Once we reach the valley on the other side of the mountain, we should be 50 kilometers away from Atâr.

A farewell dinner at our host's house in Nouakchott, Mauritania. This dinner marks the end of our adventure in Mauritania. Tomorrow, Gerak Darma's team will fly to Tunis, Tunisia. Our host really outdid himself for this dinner. The variety of food on the table was mindblowing.

Many of the newcomers settled in slum areas of the city that were poorly maintained and extremely overcrowded. By the mid-1980s, Nouakchott's population was estimated to be between 400,000 to 500,000.

Lunch is served. An impressive smorgasbord of food, prepared by our friend at his house in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The main dish is barbeque lamb. We are also served with chicken, potatoes, and olives.

Traveled to another house in Nouakchott City, Mauritania. This house is located in another nice residential area. It was not easy to find this house, but a car with GPS made the navigation easier. A beautiful house in an affluent suburb.

We got a room/chalet at the Hotel Auberge in Azougui Village in the Arar Region of Mauritania. The team decided to check out the room before settling in. A beautiful rounded chalet, built with natural slates using traditional methods. The inside is comfortable and is all white.

We stopped at an area where train carriages from a derailment were left to rot in the hot sun near Choûm, Adrar, Mauritania in the Adrar Region of Mauritania. The wreckage must have been from a train derailment some time ago. It looks like a scrap metal junkyard.
