To be clear, this rule stinks.

Arkansas has one of the lowest voting rates in the nation, and Get Loud, Arkansas! has been doing their damndest to turn that around. This rule directly targets Get Loud's work.

•2020: 28% voter turnout Registered Voters 1,740,172
•2024: 20% voter turnout Registered Voters 1,747,557
From 2020 to March 2024 (4 yrs) added 7,385 registered voters.
Who knows what the # is today.

The proposed emergency rule is approved - with no further clarity as to what will happen to the 100's of voters that had already registered using e-signature.

The argument is that the signature is compared to verify identity at election polls. But the DMV is still going to send e-signature...

Let's be clear - they don't care if people have issues at the polls because if they did, they wouldn't have decreased the number of polling locations across the state. They care about limiting voting.

How do you not prepare for a meeting? If you are making changes and whether or not people who have already submitted will be able to vote, wouldn't you want to understand just how many people would be impacted?

DMV, Disability and Public Services will be able to continue submitting electronic signatures for voter registrations.
