An argument over groynes efficacy is now irrelevant as it’s basically a run down non priority for £ & DBC maintenance let’s be honest about it.

Andrew Bentley Douglas Councillor When the Victorians discovered swimming & the beach Douglas prospered & grew as a destination, from then the beach had to be maintained, regularly dredged of seaweed & re landscaped to keep the sand in situ, the groynes were built to help & assist with that maintenance.

The weather is getting hotter and the temptation to jump into the sea is growing, but be careful. Jumping from piers and groynes is really dangerous.

The fact that Douglas beach is a former shadow of what it use to be is the point.
But strangely the groynes seem significant in DBC’s defence of it’s state now, their absence makes no difference. No maybe not but neither do you.
