How does this itaconate shunt get activated? In response to a trigger (usually viral infection), interferon-alpha gets produced, to stimulate immune response. This initiates JAK-STAT signalling, which results in the upregulation of CAD, the key enzyme that initiates the shunt

Recent Dr. Ron Davis talk is released. Cell energy depletion (ATP) as a result of itaconate shunting is discussed. Itaconite shunting may be modulated by JAK-STAT inhibitors and/or CAD inhibitors. Looking at existing drugs for inhibitors to CAD.
