April 17, 1821. Kalymnos. Sunday. At the Church of Panagia Keharitomeni of Chora, the Greek Revolution is proclaimed after a Doxology. The Cretan Muslim colonists join the natives and are converted back to Orthodoxy. The small Ottoman garrison is besieged in the castle of Chora.

Nestled not far from Pothia, the capital of #Kalymnos , #Kantouni Beach, emerges as a gem along the island’s coastline. This long, sandy stretch is celebrated for its pristine beauty & while it’s a local favorite, its allure extends far beyond the island’s residents.
