This is so, so important; my research for and is clear: for all of the (understandable) focus on curriculum catch-up, the pandemic primarily exposed the vital SOCIAL (and socialisation) function of schooling! Social catch-up is so much harder!

Vital thread by Laura McInerney on school leaders’ experience of the pandemic; her findings chime with my own as set out in my Routledge Education Books books (2021) and (2023); the final book in the trilogy, is out in 2025!

As I argue in my books and , Ofsted needs to evolve from purely inspectoral body to one that is development focused with inspector training a part of Headship development to create a peer-to-peer system, where every head also inspects BBC Radio 5 Live

Andrew Morrish As I argue in and , we need reform but vilifying Heads who inspect is wrong; we need mature debate about what a peer-to-peer system - in which Heads are the lynchpin - might look like; piling in on those who hold a ‘badge’ has no part in this!

Very exciting to be starting Tony Breslin’s presentation of Bubble Schools. “Let’s not say that it was all the same for everyone and let’s not say that it was entirely negative for everyone.” 1
