This is so, so important; my research for #LessonsFromLockdown and #BubbleSchools is clear: for all of the (understandable) focus on curriculum catch-up, the pandemic primarily exposed the vital SOCIAL (and socialisation) function of schooling! Social catch-up is so much harder!
Vital thread by Laura McInerney on school leaders’ experience of the pandemic; her findings chime with my own as set out in my Routledge Education Books books #LessonsFromLockdown (2021) and #BubbleSchools (2023); the final book in the trilogy, #ReschoolingSocietyAfterLockdown is out in 2025!
Great to see my discussion with Rachel Johnson PiXL released as part of PiXL ‘In Conversation’ series! We explore the educational impact of lockdown as set out in my Routledge Education Books books #LessonsFromLockdown and #BubbleSchools ; thanks to all involved in making this happen!
A privilege to discuss the research and analysis underpinning the first two books in my Routledge Education Books trilogy, #BubbleSchools and #LessonsFromLockdown , with Rachel Johnson PiXL who leads the fantastic and ever-growing network of schools that make up PiXL on her PixL TV show!
You can get more information on PiXL and PixL TV here: pixl.org.uk/about-us and more about my Routledge Education Books books, #LessonsFromLockdown and #BubbleSchools here amazon.co.uk/Lessons-Lockdo… and here amazon.co.uk/Bubble-Schools…
Great to get a review of this quality for the first book in my Routledge Education Books trilogy on the educational impact of lockdown: #LessonsFromLockdown amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/review/0…
Last year I recorded a podcast with Stella, Micheong, Cheong (정미정 She/Her, Ph.D, FHEA) conversations4citizenship supported by the PGCE Citizenship @ IOE team based IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education & Society, drawing on the analysis offered in my books #LessonsFromLockdown and #BubbleSchools ; I've just realised it's been published! Feedback welcome: conversations4citizenship.com/episodes/tony
As I argue in my books #LessonsFromLockdown and #BubbleSchools , Ofsted needs to evolve from purely inspectoral body to one that is development focused with inspector training a part of Headship development to create a peer-to-peer system, where every head also inspects BBC Radio 5 Live
If you’re school is part of the PiXL, you’ll now be able to access my #InConversation discussion with Rachel Johnson PiXL on PixL TV, in which Rachel and I explore the educational impact of lockdown in light of my Routledge Education Books books #LessonsFromLockdown and #BubbleSchools
Tony Breslin BBC Radio 5 Live #LessonsFromLockdown should be essential reading for any aspiring senior leader, at the very least.
Andrew Morrish As I argue in #LessonsFromLockdown and #BubbleSchools , we need reform but vilifying Heads who inspect is wrong; we need mature debate about what a peer-to-peer system - in which Heads are the lynchpin - might look like; piling in on those who hold a ‘badge’ has no part in this!
Very exciting to be starting Tony Breslin’s presentation of Bubble Schools. #lessonsfromlockdown “Let’s not say that it was all the same for everyone and let’s not say that it was entirely negative for everyone.” 1
