Leafcutter bees using cardboard tubes, been carving out and using teasel stems and seems like they had a go at carving out the elderflower cuttings as well.Maybe theyβll use it once the others are filled up. #londonwildlife #leafcutterbee #solitarybee
Currently not a fan of foxes, they pulled out a bundle of wheat straws and ate all the pollen and grub from the resin bees last night π’ put extra protection now that should keep them out. Extra video of some resin bee love making included #solitarybees #resinbees #londonwildlife
Quickly prepared more nesting straws for resin bees, I have LOADS of them and I donβt think itβs enough straws atm π (turn π off for video, slow motion videos have irritating sound when uploaded on Twitter π€¦π») #solitarybee #londonwildlife #solitarybee week

This is one of my mainecoons, Ottie. She is currently trying to entice parakeets out of a lilac tree by making that cackling noise cats make. The parakeets are laughing at her (and yes, I am in London, yes, we have 1000βs of wild parakeets) #LondonWildlife

Pond dipping is a popular activity during our summer education sessions. Many children have never seen the animals that we find living in the pond and are absolutely fascinated!

Gorgeous fox sleeping on dead leaves at the allotments this afternoon. Right by the gates, people coming and going but so chilled. Very well camouflaged too.

A striking red mason bee trying to master walking on a blade of grass in the garden today. These wild bees nest in hollow plant stems, a great reason to avoid an autumn tidy up in the garden and leave dead plants standing until spring.

I did my monthly count of wintering ladybirds in Friends of Margravine Cemetery yesterday and got 1329 Orange Ladybirds (300 more than last month). 71 Harlequins was also more than last month but it was still just the one 16-spot!
