“The PPI isn’t working,” is not enough. This echoes one of my favorite questions in clinical scenarios: “what do you mean when you say…” With John Clarke of Stanford Div. of GI & Hepatology at #OESO2024 . Basically: PPI works better for heartburn versus regurgitation.

HE & DES are such confusing diagnoses! Anh Nguyen, MD shows that while many patients have spontaneous resolution, a smaller few could evolve to achalasia 🤷‍♀️ This is why I tend to treat conservatively at first, though some data on #POEM success also exists. #oeso2024
