An Orangetip to celebrate Spring - HAPPY EASTER !!!
This is subspecies sulfuris, named by fellow Seattle resident Jon Pelham.
It had been a Sara Orangetip ssp, but was revised this week to be a Julia Orangetip form, by Todd Stout. I prefer this, since I have a daughter Julia🙂

Sara Orangetip (Anthocharis sara) can be expected to be seen flying mid-April in American West. Takes nectar at this time of year from Rockcress (Arabis sp.) wildflowers. This 1.5' #butterfly usually has the landscape mostly to itself...early for many species 🙂
