The execution of this painting is much more pleasing to me than that of Obama's portrait.

I've always favored a rough, painterly aesthetic to the smooth gradients you see in the latter. In Obama's defense, that style has a very 'hometown mural' feel. More approachable.

Another study/brush technique practice. About 2h on this one. Trying to find the right level of tightness for hardsurface objects, that feels painterly without feeling muddled.
