브뢴스테드 약산 (pKa>5)은 강산(pKa<5)이 촉매로 작용할때 C=C와 addition을 할 수 있다

1. 강산이 약산을 protonate시켜서 약산의 Conjugate acid를 만들고, 그 Conjugate acid가 C=C를 protonate 시킴 (강산과 동일)

Here, taking an informed approach based on GFP chemistry allowed us to flip the ASAP response while improving performance: Shifting the location of a H-bond donor by 1aa allows depolarization-induced motions to deprotonate (brighten) the chromophore rather than protonate it.

We’ve spent a lot of time trying to develop stronger reductants in my group but none of those systems were effective on their own. The trick to enabling this new deoxygenation reaction was working out that acids can protonate radical anion intermediates and promote C–O scission.
