They may look cute and cuddly but hug pillows can cause a baby to overheat or suffocate if used for sleeping.

Pillows are not recommended for babies until they are at least 12 months old.

Think Twice this Christmas! Enjoy the festivities but make sure little ones are safe. Remember messages and ! NEVER fall asleep with your baby after drinking alcohol/taking drugs - make sure they're in a cot/crib/moses basket - NEVER on a sofa/chair!

It is much safer to have a clear cot than a cute cot. Extra items in the cot could cover baby’s head, block their airways, or make them overheat, increasing the SIDS risk. Remove all non-essential items from.

👉🏿 Keep it clear

Thank you to Karen from The Lullaby Trust for delivering training to our 0-19 teams today. Reinforcing key messages to always put babies on their back for every sleep in a clear, flat sleep space and keep them smoke free day and night.

ABCs of safer sleep! Safer sleep for babies really can be as easy as ABC! If you’re not sure, just remember: ALWAYS on their BACK in a CLEAR cot or sleep space.

Babies should sleep in the ‘feet to foot’ position, meaning their feet are touching the foot of the cot, moses basket or crib.
-
Babies are at a higher risk of SIDS if their head gets covered. The feet to foot position helps stop them wriggling under the blanket.
