On our trike trip a few days ago, a pair of sandhill cranes landed right in the middle of a redwing blackbird nesting ground. Apparently sandhills like to eat the eggs and baby redwings! The redwings pounced! Not super great pictures but it was one of those things I won’t forget.

Here are the showers and storms over toward Charlotte that are about to make their way into the Sandhills. Some of the storms will be severe for our southern counties early this evening. They are moving east at 55 mph.

A severe storm will move into the southern Piedmont of central NC within the next hour and continue into the Sandhills through 10 PM!
This storm has a history of producing widespread wind damage and large hail. Be prepared to take cover if a warning is issued for your area! #NCwx

Today: Damaging straight-line winds of up to 70 mph and hail up to 2' will be possible for the S Piedmont, Sandhills and S Coastal Plain.

Tonight: A line of strong storms moves west to east across central NC. Straight-line winds will be the primary hazard. (1/2)
