Yesterday I did a spot of birding in the shrublands near the edge of Lake Moore, the large (and currently very dry) salt lake which borders Mt Gibson to the east. A couple of highlights were some slaty-backed thornbills (my first confident sightings) and white-winged fairy wrens.

Great Barrier Reef bleaching should raise alarms🤔
Doesn't seem to?🙊🙉🙈
But there's more😱
Onland reefs bleached, too: shrublands & forests in West Australia succumb to repeated droughts and rising heat in sw-WA as global warming drives climate change🤯

So the last thing the West would choose to do would be to artificially grow its population via immigration and increase permanently the pressure on everything! Correct?
Then bloody well say it!

[T]his pocket of Australia is unique, cut off from the rest of the continent by desert. Here and only here live honey possums and numbats, towering karri and jarrah trees and red flowering gums. But it’s the southwest which has lost most rainfall…

The Great Barrier Reef is not the only play suffering fossil fuel driven global warming extremes.

In my home state of Western Australia news is breaking of a massive heat and drought induced die back of forest and shrub land in the south-west.
