Finally some beautiful weather to explore the Aran mountains. I love the contrast in this photo, from the rocky edge, the stream in the valley and the layers of mountains in the distance. My list and love go on… πŸ’š

Looking down into beautiful Cwm Idwal today. Charles Darwin first came here in 1831 and seeing fossilised sea creatures in the rocks realised that this extraordinary landscape had been shaped by shifting glaciers.

Two nights on Snowdonia ridges watching spring appear. Smart wheatears, just arrived from central Africa. Carneddau pony foals, still tiny & unsteady. With ring ouzels, merlin, & many skylarks too, little could be better than waking up on coastal hills in April/May.

I didn't know my hands could get so cold. Few hours up in Snowdonia today in a boat. Bloody freezing, no fly life but a dozen to the boat on intermediates. Not much prettier than a wild Welsh Brown trout from a pollution free Llyn.

With views like this, it's hard not to fall in love with Penmaenuchaf.

This beautiful long lawn overlooks the stunning Mawddach Estuary and is the perfect place to take a seat and soak in the incredible sight of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.
