Did you know that for centuries people prayed at the magnificent Brihadisvara temple in Thanjavur without knowing who built it or even what its real name was? Ironically, all that information was hidden in plain sight – on the temple walls, which are filled with inscriptions!

In 1931, a history professor decided to explore a narrow corridor on the 1st floor of the Brihadisvara temple. There, under a layer of 300 year old Nayak murals, he accidentally discovered Chola frescoes that were over 1000 years old!

A Rajput prince from Bundelkhand named Tej Singh came to Gingee in Tamil Nadu and became a local hero named Raja Desingu. His story was even made into a Tamil biopic in the 1960s featuring MGR. Who was Raja Desingu?
