Think I may have taken my favorite ever. Veery the cat is demonstrating one good reason to keep - to prevent them from eating super cool rarities like these Evening Grosbeaks that showed up at the feeder this morning!

I've been posting some of my best photos of 2023 but what about the failures? Realistically there are tons of them for every success and sometimes they're as entertaining as the good ones!

I just got my first lifer of the year, my nemesis bird Horned Lark, outside our motel room in Wayne, Nebraska. Isn't it beautiful?

Warning ever, to me worth acknowledging this siting. I'm certain this is a Chestnut-collared Longspur. Taken very far away & very cropped, but zoom in will show colouring. A 1st for me. Seen in SE Alberta.
