Looking forward to visiting Essex today to present new research w Tiffany D. Barnes Giulia Venturini on gender quota laws & executive power.
We find that quotas for parliaments increase women’s representation in governments, although effects are concentrated in low prestige posts.
The article I co-authored with Jeong Hyun Kim in Legislative Studies Quarterly, 'Why Do Young Men Oppose Gender Quotas?' ranked among the top 10% most downloaded papers published in the journal in 2022. 🤩 #TopDownloadedArticle

Excited to get my very own copy of “In Love and at War” by Hilary Matfess. Our first of many excellent Elements in the Gender & Politics series Diana O'Brien and I are editing at Cambridge University Press - Politics with Rachel Blaifeder - bit.ly/4cgh8e4
My article with Jeong Hyun Kim is published online in Research & Politics. We demonstrate the gendered effects of candidate class backgrounds. Women candidates with working-class backgrounds face greater disadvantages than their male counterparts in politics.
My paper with Yuree Noh is out Comparative Political Studies Despite the proliferation of gender quotas in non-dem, no work has examined the correlates of public support for quotas. We address this question relying on original survey data from Tunisia & Morocco journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/00… POMEPS

Using age manipulation software, Yoshikuni Ono and I find voters (even older ones) like younger candidates but strongly dislike elderly candidates.
