Charpentier’s Te Deum: what a magnificent piece! French Baroque at its finest. Envying anyone who hadn’t heard it before. Thanks to BBC Radio 3 & Tom McKinney for the full work.

We're an hour into Classical Live on BBC Radio 3. Still to come before 4 - Dvorak's radiant 11th String Quartet and music from the Eurovision song contest by 2006 winners Lordi. Well not really. But there is a Eurovision link to some stunning choral music by Charpentier.

Thanks to everyone last month who sponsored my Grade 1 singing exam. Just found out I got a distinction! 😂 😂 😂 So in Classical Live on Radio 3 this afternoon, I was going to play Harmonielehre by John Adams, but I'm ditching it and singing you my Grade 1 songs instead 😲🕺

A bit moist in Salford. Classical Live starts on BBC Radio 3 from 1pm. The Ébène String Quartet play Ravel, Ailish Tynan sings Richard Strauss, Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from the BBC Philharmonic and an Overture by Marianna Martines. See you there! 👋

Smetana's grave at Vyšehrad Cemetery in Prague. At about 1.30 I've got a concert with his 1st String Quartet, the story of the ups & downs in his life. Also Robert Schumann's 2nd Symphony and violinist Rachel Podger plays Bach. Classical Live on BBC Radio 3 - with you till 4pm.

The spirit of Robert Schumann flows through Wigmore Hall at lunchtime. Nicolas Altstaedt & Dénes Várjon play his Fantasy Pieces, then the premier of Jörg Widmann’s Album Leaves (a witty and affectionate Schumann homage). Then big, passionate Brahms. Join us 1pm BBC Radio 3

The only time I've seen Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring actually done as a ballet was this sensational production in Copenhagen in 2019. This afternoon in Classical Live BBC Radio 3 it's the Radio France Philharmonic doing some damage to your listening devices in The Rite at 3pm.

Here’s something special from our recording session yesterday, gemma rosefield and Tim Horton sounding lush in Korngold. Look out for our CD release in September. There’ll be this and many more delights!

Tippett's Triple Concerto is a neglected masterpiece (in my humble opinion) and not to be missed with these amazing artists - plus delicious music by Purcell arr. Barbirolli, Elgar, Ades & a new work by Oliver Leith. 🎶
